Interview with Lyandro Plet

Sometimes you meet someone who takes you back to where it all started. That happened to us the other day with Lyandro Plet.
Years ago, his logistics career started at The Flex Shop as a temporary worker. And recently we met him at a company visit where he is now warehouse coordinator!
We spoke to him about his career and how things have gone for him.

Can you introduce yourself?
"My name is Lyandro Plet. I was born in Paramaribo, Suriname, on 15 August 1989, and grew up in Almere. I now live in Zaandam."

How did you end up at The Flex Shop?
"In 2008, I got a call from a friend who knew I was looking for work. He advised me to call The Flex Shop, which is what I did. Thus began my adventure there."

What has The Flex Shop meant to you in your career?
"The Flex Shop marked the beginning of everything I have been privileged to achieve. They had confidence in me and motivated me to get the best out of myself. Through them, I got my reach truck certificate and was able to grow further in logistics."

How has your career developed since your first working week?
"My first job through The Flex Shop was initially temporary. But because I was out of school at the time, I stayed and worked for my first client for a year and a half. Later, I came into contact with De Flexwinkel again through a vacancy on their website for a position at Schiphol Airport. Within two days, I was called by Misaël and was able to start working there."

What made you want to continue in logistics?
"I enjoyed doing varied work and learning new things. Especially driving a reach or forklift truck attracted me a lot. That variety made the work interesting and challenging."

How is The Flexwinkel different from other staffing agencies?
"The close contact and commitment. They were always there for me and saw my potential very quickly. That gave me the motivation to keep going and get the best out of myself."

What tip would you give to others who, like you, want to grow in their careers?
"Keep believing in yourself and focus on your goals. If you see an opportunity to grow, seize it! Nothing is impossible as long as you believe in it and work for it. Dream Big! Nothing is impossible." 💪
