Intercedent Sjoerd has the floor

On 1 May 2024, our newest colleague Sjoerd started at The Flexwinkel! Want to know more about him? We asked him some questions so you can get to know him better.

Why did you choose The Flex Shop?
"The Flex Shop came my way when I decided to leave my previous employer. I wanted to work closer to home. I spent as little as 5 minutes looking for a new job, then I came across the Flexwinkel. I looked at the website and then also the current employees of the Flexwinkel, what struck me was the long track record of the employees at the Flexwinkel and if there is anything I love it is loyalty. I wrote a cover letter and sent it immediately. Less than two hours later I was already contacted by Misaël the owner of the Flexwinkel via e-mail, the following morning we spoke on the phone to schedule an appointment together for an introductory meeting. Less than a week later, it was already a done deal. Both I and Flexwinkel were eager to work together and as of 1 May 2024 this has become a reality. The reception was therefore truly a warm bath, I don't regret it for a minute!"

What made you decide to become an intermediary?
"That makes sense! The connecting factor between flex worker and client relationship, in my work history the common thread is working with and for my fellow man. In the position of intermediary, this comes out perfectly. I get a lot of energy from matching new candidates to existing customer relations! The work is very variable, one moment you are busy searching for new candidates and the next moment you are on the line with the customer relation to post a new vacancy. In addition, you are of course the first point of contact for your flex workers for all their questions and comments. There is also always the challenge of searching and approaching new prospects! "

What do others think you are very good at, but that you actually find quite exciting?
"My wife's mother sometimes calls me her personal '112 switchboard' because she thinks I always know everything and she can always come to me with her questions." A Cruijffian quote reads as follows: "I rarely make mistakes, because I struggle to be wrong". So before I give an answer I think about it carefully to come to the right answer. Still, unfortunately, I sometimes make mistakes, and I find it hard to admit that..."

What do you spend your time with on a day off?
"Mainly with my family. With 3 daughters , 1 bonus daughter and my wife, my days off are basically always filled. Fortunately, there is nothing I like better than spending time with them! Should I have a free hour, one of the girls will make sure it is filled quickly. Still, I find enough time every now and then to spend on my great passion Judo! Unfortunately, I can no longer practice this beautiful sport myself, but I am only too happy to pass on my judo knowledge! Every year we organise one of the biggest A-judo tournaments in the world for people with a disability, called BENG! If I really have time left, I like to watch sports, mainly Judo, football (if you have been paying attention, you know which club I support) and Formula 1. "

And finally, what are the three most important things on your 'bucket list'?
"A house in Curaçao (in progress), touring America and running a marathon"
